Project Description
Entersekt: Expanding influence
Background
Entersekt, a global leader in strong customer and payment authentication, helps financial institutions keep digital banking and payments frictionless and secure – regardless of whether people are transacting online, via their mobile app, or call centre.
Founded in 2008, Entersekt built a unique solution using device ID to turn people’s mobiles and browsers into trusted endpoints, replacing passwords. Building on this foundational layer to create a complete cross-channel platform for banks, it now holds 99 registered patents worldwide for innovation in digital security, payments, and user experience.
Challenge
After a period of reduced PR activity, Entersekt wanted to raise its profile again to support sales.
The challenge is that authentication is quite a specialised space. While tech leaders would understand the opportunity, PR needed to make stories accessible to business leaders – and even mainstream audiences to create upward demand for greater cybersecurity.
Approach
PR kicked off with a story on the Passwordless Future, followed by pieces on Behavioural Biometrics, Decentralised Identity, and SIM Swaps, focusing on use cases and how it benefits consumers to convey the complex technology in a relatable way.
Over time, highlights have included: SABC Morning Live, Radio 702, BusinessTech, Lotus FM, Kaya FM, Stuff Daily Maverick, BusinessLive, JSE Magazine, The Paypers, Brainstorm, TechCentral, Payments Afrika, TechEconomyNigeria.
In 2023, Entersekt also acquired Modirium 3D-Secure, significantly fueling its global expansion. Subsequently, PR has supported global media outreach which now includes: BAI Banking Strategies, Payments Journal, Finextra and Nordic Fintech Magazine.
Results
Valuable business and mainstream coverage in South Africa has been able to create broader awareness for Entersekt locally – in addition to publicity in technology trade coverage to keep tech leaders updated on authentication.
As the business expands globally, PR is supporting the inroads that Entersekt’s marketing team is making into Tier 1 banking technology press.
